My ballerina daughter Larissa came to me yesterday complaining that she could not turn her head to the right without pain.  She must have slept on it wrong and had a kink in it.  This is another situation where I felt like doTerra essential oils gave me as a mother some tools that I would not have had in the past.  Before my introduction to doTerra I would have had to give her some sympathy for her discomfort and send her on her way.   But, I knew that doTerra’s Deep Blue Essential Oil is formulated for this kind of discomfort.  I mixed a few drops of Deep Blue with a little bit of fractionated coconut oil to dilute it since I was putting it on my daughter.  I then rubbed it into Larissa’s neck where she said it hurt.  Within minutes she didn’t have anymore discomfort in her neck and she went to her ballet class in the afternoon with no problem at all!  I have had the same results on an old injury on my son’s knee.  My brother has used Deep Blue with amazing  results to control the pain of arthritis and many people have used it to help with back pain as well.  What a great tool for every mom to have!

We had a get together with my family last night.  My sister-in-law Amy made a cake with Lemon Frosting and had used the Lemon Essential Oil as flavoring.  It was delicious and everyone kept going back for more!  I don’t think I have ever tasted a frosting that I like better and my 10 year old daughter has asked me to make a cake just like it for her next birthday.  The recipe is below:

Lemon Frosting

• 2 oz Cream Cheese
• 1/4 Cup Butter
• 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
• 4-5 drops Lemon Essential Oil (to taste)
• 1/4 Cup Milk
• 4-5 Cups Powdered Sugar

Mix Cream Cheese, Butter, Vanilla and Lemon Essential Oil until smooth.  Then mix in the Milk.   Add Powdered Sugar a little at a time until frosting is desired consistency. 

As I said, this frosting is delicious.  Now I wouldn’t say it is healthy but at least it doesn’t have all the extra ingredients that are added to the prepackaged frosting you buy at the store!   You could add more milk to make a lemon glaze for cakes, sweet rolls or anything else you might want a glaze on.  Just a fun addition to the things that Essential Oils are good for.

Yesterday, I wrote about my daughter waking up feeling sick.  I was amazed at how fast she bounced back.  She went to school feeling just fine today and was actually feeling great most of the day yesterday.  I forgot to mention in my post that she had a fever so when I went to check on her I thought darn I should have given her some Children’s Tylenol or Motrin but, she was asleep so I couldn’t give it to her right then.  But, she had also complained that her stomach was upset.  I had heard that Peppermint Essential Oil was good for upset stomaches so ,while she was sleeping I rubbed a little of that on her feet as well.  When she woke up I was going to give her some Motrin but her fever was gone.  I just learned today that Peppermint reduces fevers.  A side benefit I didn’t even know about!
